Head of Finance and Administration

Position Overview

The Head of Finance & Administration (HFA) is both a strategic and tactical leader who thrives on analyzing and executing plans/systems to improve profits and efficiencies that support achieving the operating and strategic objectives of Brackish. Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee all aspects of the Company’s financial management, including financial planning, forecasting and reporting.  In addition, this role will incorporate Human Resources and Information Technology administrative responsibilities, including payroll and IT systems.

What You Will Do

  1. Provide financial oversight for the organization and be responsible for the entire range of financial management, from daily operations to high-level management.
  2. Supervise the accounting and finance department, including external accountants and tax professionals, to ensure the proper functioning of all systems.
  3. Oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting processes and prepare the annual operating budget. Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
  4. Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet and cash flow financial statements. Monitor, interpret and present financial results of sales and operations each month. Provide recommendations to improve financial and operating results.
  5. Review and ensure application of standard operating procedures that impact the financial statements (i.e., inventory adjustments and write-offs).
  6. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for the owners.
  7. Manage bi-weekly payroll through QuickBooks online and an advanced excel spreadsheet.
  8. Oversee payroll liabilities and benefits including PTO accrual and retirement plans.
  9. Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, bookkeeping, budgeting and accounting.
  10. Manage the company’s vendor payables and accounts receivable through several different platforms, including Shopify, PayPal, Amazon, credit cards and checks.
  11. Organize electronic files and end-of-year tax information.
  12. Reconcile the books and ensure books are closed each month.
  13. Assist with scheduling and recording of annual reviews and employee documentation.
  14. Assist with the employee onboarding and termination processing and maintain organized HR files.
  15. Serve as the information technology (IT) contact and intermediary with any external IT consultants. Purchase IT equipment as needed.
  16. Counsel management team on personnel and management issues.
  17. Counsel staff on personnel policies and procedures including compensation, recruitment and performance.
  18. Oversee employee-related insurance, as well as retirement and medical flex programs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration.

Head of Operations

Position Overview

The Head of Operations at Brackish is both a strategic and tactical leader who thrives on achieving operational excellence across the entire product operations value chain. To accomplish this, you will develop and execute programs, policies, and processes that optimize the design, development, and quality production of Brackish men’s and women’s accessories. Your team will include talented leaders and associates from product development, inventory, production, and quality. Your success will be dependent on developing and supporting strategies in these functional areas, regularly improving operational procedures and systems, enhancing productivity and quality while reducing costs, improving gross margins, and developing nimble teams of engaged employees. 

What You Will Do

  1. Manage the product life cycle and value stream from product development to purchasing and inventory management to production to product fulfillment; introduce collaborative systems, processes, procedures, standards, and key performance indicators to support Brackish financial, quality, and safety objectives.
  2. Ensure the efficiency, timeliness and adherence to the Design Calendar of the product development process to include concept development, product and hardware design, packaging design, margin requirements, drawings, dimensions and tolerances, prototype development, product launch, and delivery of product.
  3. Oversee and direct actions to achieve the 12-month rolling product strategy calendar to keep processes on track, highlight issues ahead of time, and help problem-solve if schedules are off-track.
  4. Incorporate forecasted sales demand into a raw material supply schedule and into a 12-month rolling purchasing spend plan to optimize inventory levels, inventory turnover, revenue, and cash flow.
  5. Oversee purchasing activities to ensure accurate forecasting of needs including reliable re-order points, optimal turnover, strong vendor relationships, optimal pricing, and on time delivery.
  6. Ensure complete product fulfillment, which includes ensuring production planning and scheduling, management of labor, productivity, quality assurance, shipping, and employee safety are on track for on-time customer deliveries. 
  7. Identify and manage potential risk items that may impede the production schedule; coordinate with internal teams to reduce or eliminate risk items, as well as relaying such information to the sales team and leadership in a timely manner.
  8. Ensure product quality standards are achieved.
  9. Provide career development opportunities for employees while ensuring Brackish values are lived by each leader and employee.
  10. Lead initiatives to reduce lead times and costs in each value stream.
  11. Set a leadership tone as it relates to Brackish core values, support of the company strategy, and company initiatives around expense reduction and productivity increases.
  12. Communicate management strategies and facilitate implementation at all levels of operations.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in operations management, finance, logistics, supply chain management and/or business preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.

The Wholesale Account Associate is an entry level sales role that supports the Wholesale Manager on existing accounts, and also builds new accounts in specific geographic regions. You will be trained to have a deep knowledge of the Brackish brand, our products, and our sales processes in order to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service. This position requires attending trade shows, organizing trunk shows, and visiting stores to maintain and develop relationships to continue to grow the Brackish brand.
