The Story | This piece pays tribute to Les McElwee, grandfather of the first hired Brackish artisan, Thomas McElwee, and long-time director of The Citadel Brigadier Foundation. This foundation funds athletic scholarships to cadet-student-athletes and provides nearly 225 students with the opportunity to compete on a Division 1 playing field each year. Because of Les's guidance and impact at The Citadel, he is now considered a pioneer in the athletic fund-raising industry and is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater here in our home of Charleston, SC.
